Data Collection and Processing

For the purposed of communicating the meeting connection details, updates, avoiding spam, and to estimate the attendance to prepare the event, we process your e-mail address, name and surname, as personal data. Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person (data subject); an identifiable natural person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identifier such as a name, an identification number, location data, an online identifier or to one or more factors specific to the physical, physiological, genetic, mental, economic, cultural or social identity of that natural person (Art. 4, No. 1 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)).

Your e-mail address, name, and surname, will be deleted immediately after the talk is finished in accordance with data protection regulations. Data are sent to and processed by the event’s organizer “account owner”, i.e., the Data Controller as specified below.

Legal basis

The legal basis for the processing is your consent in accordance with Art. 6, par. 1, clause 1 (a) GDPR. According to Art. 7 par. 3 GDPR you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future. The consent is voluntary.

Your rights

1. You have the right to obtain information from KIT about the data stored about you and/or to have incorrectly stored data corrected.

2. You also have the right of erasure or limitation of processing or the right to object to processing.

4. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority about the processing of the personal data concerning you by Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. The supervisory authority of KIT is the state commissioner for data protection and freedom of information Baden-Württemberg ("Landesbeauftragter für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit Baden-Württemberg").
