Securing the Critical Transportation Infrastructure - Challenges and Solutions
Wednesday, November 19th 2025, 4pm in the Kl. Hörsaal Bauingenieure in building 10.50
Critical transportation infrastructures -- both rail and road -- are increasingly the target of cyberattacks. For example, modern cars have successfully been compromised remotely through the entertainment system and critical bus systems have been attacked to take full control of the car. For rail transport, passenger information systems have been hacked successfully and the rail vehicles are typically not engineered to prevent security incidents. The talk gives an overview of current challenges and solutions in both domains -- from continuous risk analysis over solutions for hardening the railway system towards tailored approaches for attack and intrusion detection.
CV: Stefan Katzenbeisser is full professor at University of Passau and co-founder of INCYDE GmbH that specialize in the security of rail transportation.
